
Commander Lyal B. Davison is a native of California. He entered the U. S. Naval Academy and was commissioned as an Ensign in 1976.
His initial sea tour was aboard USS DEWEY (DDG 45). Subsequent sea tours were served aboard USS CARL VINSON (DVN 70), USS KING (DDG41), and USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). His deployments include two Mediterranean Sea, two Northern Arabian Sea, and UNITAS assignments.
His shore tours include nuclear propulsion training and Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering. He also served on the staff of the Assistant Chief of Naval Operations (Surface Warfare) as Frigate Platform Sponsor and Administrative Assistant to the Director, Surface Warfare Plans / Programs Requirements Division.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (one gold star), the Navy Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit citations.
